Trust History

The MBA Trust was formed in 1986. Capital Benefit Services partnered with the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties, Regence BlueShield and Group Health to form an exclusive relationship that would offer better rates to clients in the building and construction industry. The success of the MBA Trust was quickly evident and in 1990, the BIAW Trust was formed when Capital Benefit Services and its carriers joined with the Building Industry Association of Washington. Subsequent endorsements of the MBA and BIAW Trusts by major organizations around the state followed. Associated Builders and Contractors, the Northwest Marine Trade Association, Painters and Decorators Council and the SMART Retro program are just some of the entities that currently endorse the MBA Trust program for their members.

Capital Benefit Services, Inc. began partnering with its exclusive administrator, EPK & Associates, in 1990. EPK's responsibilities include monthly billing, employee meetings, claims assistance, and COBRA administration. Thanks in part to the excellent customer service provided by EPK, the Trust's annual member retention level has been over 95% since 2000.
