Harvest Time – In-Season Produce for Hardworking Bodies

As Summer fades into Fall, we get one of the best times of year for fresh, locally grown produce in the PNW. Seasonal fruits and vegetables are packed with nutrients that help your immunity, energy levels, and overall wellness. And added bonus, they're often more affordable at peak season. Here’s a guide to what’s in-season and how to incorporate more of them onto your plate. What's in Season Now?

Apples: One medium apple provides about 4 grams of fiber, helping support digestion and keeping you feeling full longer.

Blackberries: Blackberries are loaded with antioxidants, giving them their dark color and ability to fight oxidative stress in the body.

Tomatoes: Just one medium tomato provides roughly 25% of your daily vitamin C needs along with lycopene, an antioxidant for heart health.

Sweet Corn: Corn provides several B vitamins, including thiamin (B1) and niacin (B3), which translates to energy for your body.

Peppers: A single red bell pepper contains more than 150% of your daily vitamin C needs, helping support immune function and healthy skin.

Green Beans: A one-cup serving provides fiber, folate, and vitamin K while containing only about 30 calories, making them a nutrient-dense side dish.

Easy Ways to Eat More This Season

Pack Smart Snacks: Bring apples, peppers, or blackberries to work instead of reaching for vending machine options.

Upgrade Your Lunch: Add sliced tomatoes and peppers to sandwiches, wraps, or salads.

Fire Up the Grill: Toss corn, peppers, and green beans on the grill for an easy side dish.

Add Produce to Every Meal: Aim to include at least one fruit and vegetable at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Make It Convenient: Wash and prep produce ahead of time so it's ready when hunger strikes.

Try This This Week

Challenge yourself to eat at least 2 seasonal fruits or veggies each day this week. Whether it's an apple with breakfast, tomatoes on your sandwich, or grilled corn with dinner, you deserve to make the most of our local harvest season.
