Summer is a season full of energy, sunshine, and opportunities to enjoy the outdoors! We encourage you to get out there and make this summer great for you and your family’s health. By being intentional about what you eat, drink, and do, you can make the most of our great summer weather in the PNW.

What to Eat

  • Seasonal Produce – Watermelon, berries, cucumbers, corn, and tomatoes are some good local options for seasonal produce.

  • Grill the Veggies – Tired of boring steamed veggies? Try grilling them and adding some spice, you wouldn’t want to eat steamed meat either.

  • Light meals – Go for lean proteins, salads, and whole grains to avoid feeling sluggish in the heat.

  • Healthy snacks – Try frozen grapes, yogurt with fruit, or veggie sticks with hummus.

What to Drink

  • Plenty of water – Aim for at least 8 cups a day, more if you're active or outdoors.

  • Infused water – Add slices of lemon, cucumber, or mint for a refreshing twist.

  • Try Juicing – Whether with a blender or juicer, you can get lots of vitamins while staying hydrated by blending fruits or vegetables.

What to Do

  • Stay active – Enjoy hiking, biking, swimming, or evening walks during this beautiful time of year.

  • Protect your skin – Use SPF 30+ sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours during sun exposure.

  • Cool down smart – Take breaks in the shade or indoors, and wear light, breathable clothing.
